The Revolution!!

November 5th Poem
"Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.

Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes,
'twas his intent to blow up the King and the Parliament.
Three score barrels of powder below,
Poor old England to overthrow:
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match.

Holloa boys, holloa boys, make the bells ring.

God save the King! Hip hip hoorah!

A penny loaf to feed the Pope.
A farthing o' cheese to choke him.
A pint of beer to rinse it down.
A faggot of sticks to burn him.
Burn him in a tub of tar.
Burn him like a blazing star.
Burn his body from his head.
Then we'll say ol' Pope is dead.
Hip hip hoorah! Hip hip hoorah"

Its 403 years on and we still have Parliment ( and that old hag known as Queen Elizabeth II). Has anything really changed since the 'Golden Age'? Well... practicaly anyone can vote, slavery abolished, sexual freedom, Church is not so dominant, Antibiotics, CCTV, a civil war and two world wars - not much really.

The long forgotten 'Golden Age' is over and we are decending into a 'Orwellian Dystopic Age' now where we are constantly monitered, watched on CCTV and slowly but surely we are having our freedoms stripped from us. This leads the politically pessimistic of us to question - Is there any hope of revolution this day and age?

If so it is in the hands of the youthn of today (excuse the cliche here) who are blinded by clever parania installing propaganda, discriminated by the media and absorbed on social networking sites. I say revolution is in the hands of the youth of today because who boycotted school and protested against the war in Iraq when the decision was made. Us as students of course!! In the 1960's where were the riots, marches and destroying of conscription papers - Where there were students/ young people!!

The only way the revolution will happen is when they create more unreasonable laws that strips us of more freedoms, but until then we will have to wait for it to get worse before it gets better.

By the way my television recomendation for this occasion will be the famous 'V for Vendetta' - What else eh?
